I want to resist Eddie Bauer. I want to resist that this designer is actually acknowledging larger women’s sizes. I want to resist the sheer status he seems to hold. I came in wanting to hate… and while I can’t say I love, hate isn’t in the schedule, either.
With swimwear sizes up to 26, Bauer offers upper range pricing (to a normal person, which means not, say, a typical Vogue reader where $3000 is a “steal” on a handbag). For around $125, you can nab your own Miracle Suit for yourself – one of those suits meant to retuck your body flaws at a possible risk to your long-term blood circulation.
Complete with lots of shirring and other styles, these looks are great for women who have extended tummies who don’t show as much excess around the legs. Again, boo to not using plus models for plus designs, but since this brand was considered a trendy designer awhile ago, the concession is worth letting the oversight slide for a year or two… but no more than that.
