I’ve been reading raves about the new Lane Bryant Right Fit denim line, particularly their new, simplified sizing system. I have to admit, I love the system – it really does take body shape into account, which is great. I’m looking forward to trying out these new options, and I’m pleased to see Lane Bryant finally taking their customer’s needs into account rather than wild guesses about trends. Here’s hoping this continues.
Avenue is taking a slightly different approach with their tummy control jeans. While on a true plus person it’s not actually possible to hide a tummy, this could possibly help with posture control and consequently back issues. They’re sticking to the safely flair-leg approach; it relieves me that the skinny leg just hasn’t been accepted no matter how hard the fashion powers-that-think-they-are try to sell it.
Torrid has also released their fall boots and denim line. While it’s hard to break any ground – denim and boots are the American classic uniform – I still find it infinitely preferable to their Carnivale line, which just seems like basics intermingled with the gaudy and tacky. I’m a registered Torrid fan, but even they can’t make a hit every time. I’m seeing a lot more denim skirts in their mix; possibly a returning trend, but not one I personally would be inclined to wear.
