Fabsugar Posts for Plus: Strong Language Ahead

I could be wrong, but I’m getting the distinct impression that the blogger at FabSugar is trying to cater to a market. My initial reaction to her Fab Body Guide was a bit less than civil. OK, it was way less than civil. The first thought that went through my head was “Are you fucking kidding me?

Citing Lane Bryant and Torrid are there because it would have been completely inauthentic otherwise. But what I take umbrage to is descriptions like the one by DKNY: “Most of their city-savvy merchandise comes in size 14.”

SIZE 14 IS NOT PLUS! People that are size 14 are not, by any stretch of the imagination, fat, and I really do think it reflects poorly on the character of any person who believes that it is – they deserve to have their shins bit by angry lawn gnomes. It’s crap like this that perpetuates many an eating disorder.

And from looking at what few genuine plus selections were on that list, it’s obvious this person overlooked some really good stuff in favor of kissing up to stores that provide only for the patrician plussie over 50 (we love you over 50s, but you’ve got to admit when it comes to style, each decade has its own road). Where is Fashion Overdose on that list? Or for the more conservative, Avenue.com? How about Alight? SWAK? Any of the many retailers I’ve added to the blog links since I opened this blog back in March?

I am really angered by Fabsugar‘s “shopping guide” and I can only hope more plussies let ‘em know. That post was just piss poor research. A straight up Google check brings up more than that nonsense.
