This is not a Fat Chic topic, this is pure feminism, but it’s hugely important, and I would ask that you take action on this NOW:
Airman Cassandra Hernandez, was raped by three fellow servicemen and is now being court martialed for it.
The rate of recidivism for those who commit rape sucks, so essentially, the airforce is not only victimizing Hernandez out of pure misogyny, they are knowingly releasing a danger on the great population.
You can write your senators here about it. Please do it now and not later - as long as Hernandez is held by the military, she remains in imminent danger.
Writing about fashion has brought home to me how many ways our culture still hates and abuses women in the totally incorrect assumption that suppressing us is the only way to uphold society. It’s not the way - and every letter, hollaback, and voice really does take us a step towards a world that is safe and healthy for all genders. Yeah, there’s always some backslide, but that’s why we have to jump on all of these incidents.
