Clean out your closets for a darned good cause: the wildfire victims come in all shapes and sizes. Whoever said there are no plussies in Orange County both lied and did not take a good look around.

Working Wardrobes, a nonprofit organization out of California, equips those in need of a boost in life with the clothing to make it happen. The heat is on with them right now given the wildfire situation, and they could use a boost from the rest of the country. They need clothing in all shapes and sizes, but especially in plus sizes. Whether you’re an individual with a closet in need of cleaning or a clothier with some stuff you need to budge off the clearance rack, please take this opportunity to lighten your load while giving people who really truly need it a boost.

Please, have some standards about what you send. These are the requirements posted on their site:

  • Must be clean and pressed
  • Must be on hangers – no bags or boxes, please
  • Size identified – especially with men’s suits
  • No broken zippers, missing buttons, tears or stains
  • Purses and shoes in good condition
  • Men & women’s accessories (scarves, belts, earrings, necklaces, shoes, & ties) are always greatly needed
  • New packages of panty hose and men’s boxers are accepted.
  • Unopened personal care products and travel size personal care products are accepted.
  • While keeping it pressed would be a challenge if you’re shipping it cross country, the rest is not so hard to do. So go on and do that pre-holiday purge, and sent the good stuff to California; if there’s anytime people need the clothes off your back, it’s now.
