It’s pretty well known that Macy’s corporation isn’t doing so well. As the owners also of Sears and Kmart, too shops also known for providing plus clothing in an “oh well, if you must” sort of way, I can’t help but greet this appearance of a junior’s plus section with raised eyebrows. So we’re told over and over by this corporation that we fat people aren’t important in the marketplace, and suddenly this is one of their survival strategies? Notably, this isn’t a heavily advertised change, and there lies another conundrum: they don’t want to admit they serve plus sized people so they don’t advertise to them, plus sized people are used to a very limited range of clothing possibilities and so won’t seek out their stores unless given a reason, and then the added plus section fails and is closed because nobody knew about it in the first place.
Sorry, those businesses in heavy fashionrexia denial - if you want to survive, you’ve got to gulp down a little crow.
The juniors sections themselves are not too bed - while it’s not cutting edge fashion, plus or mainstream, it’s younger-looking cute stuff in size ranging up to 24. So while I’m bitter at being left out, that includes a lot of you and gives you the freedom to jump on their frequent sales.
