Something I have to remember about Liz Claiborne: their target demographic participates in the environmental blight known as golf. This leads to an aesthetic unfamiliar to those of us in mortal tax brackets, and while I understand that the crazy dress is all about honoring Scottish traditions, it still makes me feel like I need an eyeball wash.
While most of the plus line this summer is targeted towards golf players, a few items were more attractive and less banal. The big standout was this dress:

The striping actually works with the figure, and I’m inclined towards empire dress looks in general.

I’m also liking this jersey tee with the slit/keyhole neckline going on – I only wish it came in colors beyond navy blue and white, but then again, I don’t live in the universe where yachting = summer and crazy plaids = appropriate for going out in public. Hell, the last time I spent any time at a country club I was hanging out with a friend in high school, and I don’t think she’d have left me unattended for a moment for fear I would start asking people about what on earth they were wearing.
