MXM is a new discovery for me, one found via another fashion blog. The look and feel of their website suggests they’re aiming for a younger, hipper crowd, but the selections belie that a bit. They are generally listed devoid of any model. Selection is limited, and is all carefully on-trend. Sizing, in theory, goes to 4x, although finding such pieces was a rarity and may not even be available as of the time of this post. While I didn’t find anything I hated, nothing really jumped out at me as something I loved, either.
The first to jump out at me was this one. Yes, I know some of you will mutter about horizontal striping of any kind, and this is where I remind you that this blog is about feeling good in something that looks good, not about conforming to traditional stereotypes. The belt cincher and the thing striping makes it a point of visual interest; it would be a good summer top to layer beneath a jacket and pants for work or to put over a skirt in a more recreational setting.
While coat dresses are starting to fade, I still like them because it takes so little to dress them up or down. This one, with the military motif, has a slightly younger feel. I think it’s the silver buttons.
