From Junkfood Science: The exercise diet that wasn’t
That exercise recommendation of 55 minutes a day - it turns out, it's not even close to true. Read this clip from Junkfood Science and then read the ENTIRE ARTICLE over there - it needs to be heard, read, and repeated. From Junkfood Science: It found that no amount or intensity of exercise worked to maintain weight loss. Instead, it demonstrated [...]
A Pear-friendly dress
I really like the way the waist is defined - the dress is sweet and simple in its shape, but perfectly gussed up with sequin details - without making anyone look like a Vegas lounge singer.
Catherine’s Fall
We've already discussed the tendency of Catherine's to offer most unfatshionable items, and then to take one that is almost a real find and make it not so by that one single detail of cringe over fringe. But someone somewhere has been learning on those one or two items to stay their hands. In fact, these two pieces aren't so bad. The jacket would [...]
Because I’m a sucker for gradients
I'm a sucker for gradient looks rather than old-school tie dye. I have to wonder how much of that good stuff I missed in plus this summer. This was an absolute and wonderful standout from Lane Bryant's usual. I also had a spur of the moment trip where I found a fabulous blue summer dress for $20; pictures will be forthcoming.
A Quick Guide to Fat Chic Google Search
Every so often I mention it, so I thought I'd mention it again: with the help of Google, I've built a search engine just for your shopping pleasure, dear readers. That Google search box right in the smack dab middle column ((assuming your browser is displaying columns - I'm working on it, folks!)) ? That's just for you, my lovely. As I [...]
In the Paint at Coffin Color
Coffin Color has enough fans on here that I thought I'd pass along this message from Xiane, since they were temporarily closed earlier this summer to do some reformulation for customer safety: Coffin Color is back, after a small vacation while Mad Scientist Xiane bid farewell to former partner Melissa... luckily, although I'll miss my [...]
Argh! So close!
Look very closely at this. Hourglass friendly (I'm trying not to be bitter.) Fun, sexy variation on the empire-waist design... and a freakin bow-tie at the neck. I'd have to trot down to Nordstrom's and look, but you might be able to get those damn ties out with judicious application of a seam ripper.

Neiman Marcus: Luxury in Plus, but not really Couture
Aside from an incident where I cut through a Neiman Marcus on the way to the train and got caught in a strange little loop where the store manager questioned me questioning his Christmas tree (in August) I don't have much to do with the place. It's beyond my means and to me appears unintentionally hilarious. Clearly, it's a store meant for only [...]
One more trip down Avenue for now…
Avenue isn't always navigation friendly, but given the reputation its store employees have, I much prefer trying to navigate them online than I do in their store. I have not ONCE heard a positive comment about customer service at their retail clothings, although I have heard many, many horror stories about bad service and at least once of outright [...]
