Eddie Bauer Plus Finds

Note to readers: let me know if you can’t see the pictures here. I had to do some work-arounds thanks to the sometimes frustrating wonder that is flash programming.

I’m not sure what to make of Eddie Bauer. Apparently his men’s line was a big deal at some point in the mid to late 90s? Since fashion branding didn’t really hit my personal radar until around 2002, just go with me on some of these historical gaps. Clearly, Eddie – or in any case, the Bauer company which may be henceforth referred to as “Eddie”1 seems to know fat people exist – they even show a plus size girl on horseback in the women’s plus header.

And then they show all the plus sized clothing on thin models.

Sorry Eddie, but I don’t think that compromise is the solution formula on this one – if you really want to acknowledge the plus market, give them genuinely plus models. You’ll win when they pay for your decidedly preppy looks.

Just to get an idea, here are my standout picks of his offerings:

  1. If corporations are allowed under the law to be treated as individual persons, I am damn well going to refer to them as though they are the single individual they are named for. []
