Winter Sexy

I’ve been digging through a few more plus stores and designers, and finding yet more party-worthy duds to add to just the right wardrobe. I was also surprised at a couple of shops that had the fun and sexy – no one is surprised by Anna Scholz turning out something cool, but when Catherine’s has anything I’d wear, I’m beside myself with joy.

Yes, these are conservative. But look – they’re SHINY! Admittedly, I’m easily entertained by rich, shiny colors. But I also like the bust-flattering cut and the way it fits at the waist. With a high-waisted skirt or pant, this is a nice holiday-office-party look or a good cocktail outfit.

I think my fascination with these pieces by Anna Scholz is based as much in the artistry of the picture – and that it manages to be artistic while still allowing us to see the piece rather than the model posing in the piece – and because these looks are what I consider the most wearable and gorgeous out of her late 2008 collection. This is partly because I love well-placed lace. But I also kind of love the presentation she’s using; plus size women are included in couture. If anyone owns a piece by Anna, could you pretty please post it to the Fat Chic flickr group? I would LOVE to see it on a non-model.

Newport News, while not really trusted for plus, still comes up with some of the forward-looking trends, and that always makes looking at their site a treat even if I would love to see some of their women’s fashions on women-sized women. The above is another nod to the Marilyn Dress – I sense the influence of Mad Men at work.

You can find holiday dressy items on Fat Chic clothing search.
