Outer Layers

There’s always that last extra layer of just-right to add to your clothing in the winter, and I have been hunting and flagging assiduously. There’s a certain point where cold is just cold, and the only reason to concern yourself about your figure, silhouette or body shape is if parts are turning blue and falling off. So with that in mind, here are some stylish – and warm! – choices to investigate.

V-neck pullover tunic

I really like this sweater, although I would never wear it over skinny jeans. I might wear it over a skirt and tights with additional leg warmers with actually keeping my legs warm in mind.

Corduroy car coatButton-front herringbone coat

I love both of these coats for the hint of drama they offer, without jumping overboard into Matrix geekery. It’s all classic – and highly practical – stuff, here.

V-neck sweater

The V-neck sweater is one of the good 80s throwbacks, in the pile that does not include blue eyeshadow up to your eyebrows and leggings outside the house. I like it for its layering, but also because you can use it to create more shape. It is a rare joy to be both fashionable and comfortable, and one I will ever seek.

Equestrian coat

I’m pretty sure I’ve blogged this before, but it’s just such a cool idea I have to mention it again. This is possibly yet another Mad Men nod, or perhaps a tacit acknowledgment that goths will sometimes wear colors other than black. Whether the fantasy is vampire novel or romance novel, this just has a little something to it if you’re the type of person to hit clubs.

You can find more sweaters and clubwear on Fat Chic clothing search.
