BurdaStyle has copyright-free patterns available, some for download online. This means a)if you can sew it, you can sell it and b)you get to be very interactive with the designers at Burda.

While at the moment their plus size offerings are extremely limited, what they have is very nice and adaptable to multiple figure types – which is the point of diy, I would guess.
