Are We Done with Prints Yet?

Although there are a few fashion folks still raising their voice insistently in their favor, most of what I’ve read and seen in the fatosphere is hearty resistance to heavy prints. Finding the right print is difficult at best if you’re in “normal” size range, and while prints can be pure genius in the art of figure flattery – I have one dress in my closet where the print almost redefines my shape – for the most part, it seems to be a miss. Perhaps I exclude myself from a lot of fashion also because of my distaste for animal prints, but seriously? Who has ever seen a fat leopard?

Below is a top from SWAK designs; SWAK is actually pretty affordable-fashion forward and leans towards on-trend clothing for larger sizes. This print is definitely a volley to the prints trend. On the model, I like it. On size 28 me, however, it might not work.

I guess I’m one of those who are a fan of patterns. That being said, there is a lot of crap out there. LB and SA are two of the top criminals for that. I don’t think every pattern suits every body, kind of like every color doesn’t.

When it comes down to it though I’d probably choose a color block over pattern.

  2. I am not a fan of prints or flowers. It tends to look over powering and makes me look bigger.
