Full disclosure: SWAK contacted me and asked if I’d like a dress sample. I said yes. I had intended to get photographed in it last week, but I haven’t – there will be a photo of my forthcoming. I have posted an interview with Rhassan Perry before.
Here’s the thing that I’ve learned about convertible dresses: if you are the sort of woman who likes to do strange and fancy things to your hair like chignons and French braids, this dress is for you. You’re used to the art of origami using your own body. As for me, I’m glad of the invention of Hollywood tape and my fiancee’s love of dressing me up – in fact you could say this dress has been great for our relationship. Not only does he love how it looks, I can’t get into it and look publicly presentable without his help. So he gets to feel me up, tuck me in and rearrange me to his hearts content. Thank God he’s the kind of guy who likes his lady to look classy in public (and this is one of the rare occasions where he gets any say in how I present myself.)
I’m a little shy about going out in this dress – I do have a bit of back fat I’m still weight-lifting in hopes of reducing – but the general response is “that’s hot!”
If the convertible dress catches on, it’s going to need its own forum for ways to wear it – especially for ponytail or nothin’ gals like me. Thankfully, SWAK was prepared and created the above video with Reah Norman.
