A quick guide to Fat Chic

Plus Sized

Every so often, I’ve found it’s good to stop and point people to a few features on Fat Chic blog so that they can use it for themselves as best they can. The purpose of this blog is as a resource for women looking for plus size clothing. Certainly I have my own preferences, and I advocate that everyone in the plus market be treated with respect regardless of  fashion preferences. In the spirit of everyone who arrives here making the most of this blog, I want to point out a few features:

1)The RSS feed. Fat Chic can indeed come to you if you so choose. This will also clue you in to my delicious.com stream, where I mark things from other blogs.

2)The blog search that you see in the upper right. It only searches the blog, which is pretty heavily tagged, so if you’re looking for a blog post on jeans or some rant written a year ago, that’s the easiest way to find it.

3)Fat Chic Clothing Search, built just for your readers. That’s in the left sidebar that has the Google logo on it. This has over 1000 stores in it, some indie, some not, some plus only, some not that sell clothing at least size 16 and above. While most are US based, I have also included anything I can find from Canada, the UK, Europe and Australia. The only reason I’ve not branched out to other continents is because I haven’t found them and a lot of those cultures are still very DIY about their clothing. If you’re a fellow plus fashion blogger, you can also add the clothing search as a widget to your own blog, so you can just access it whenever you’re looking for clothing.  You will get the best results in finding what you want quickly if you spend a little time learning Google search operators.

4)If you click the link in the upper bar that says “FC Directory” it will take you to my huge links list – this includes plus size clothing stores, blogs and magazines of interest and even health resources.

5)If you click on “Support FC” it will take you to one location that has the Fat Chic Clothing Search., a series of affiliates, and a mini Amazon-bookstore all in one place for you.

6)If you go to “Community” you will find a stream from Fat Chic’s flickr group. If you want to share your outfits and have a discussion, for the time being you can go to the flickr group to interact.

7)If you’re on the social side, you can also follow me on Twitter.
