For some reason, every July, I end up skipping a few postings or sometimes most of the month. I’ve put my finger on why:
I’m not shallow. I would daresay most people braving the waters of plus size blogging are not shallow, the major differences being in how they accept or reject the messages of the mainstream world.
I love clothing, but it’s far from my only interest, and I think that unless I have something unsaid/not said recently to contribute to “life as a fat person” type posts, I generally just skip them. The fatosphere covers those discussions quite well, and in depth, and I prefer to leave the intense discussions for other blogs. I’m mainly about discovery and display: I want to find and catalog every plus size store out there, and I want to see women wearing that great clothing.
In July, two things happen: the fashion world slows down, and a lot of blog readers go on vacation. While I could ply you with clearance sales and rip pictures from fashion magazines (I do own a scanner) I prefer to simply take a break. I’m a blogger. If it’s a slow newsweek, I can just not issue any news. Besides, as awesome as the clearance sales are, I’m still much more about the finding and the wearing, rather than just the buying.
Even so, the clearance sales can and will pop up nicely in the Fat Chic clothing search.
