The top is usually what really gives an outfit its angle. Pants can be pants (although this can change by fit) and skirts can communicate so much via pleat and hemline – but what really finishes off the ensemble is always the top. So while things haven’t changed massively in the world of plus size clothing design, it’s interesting and satisfactory enough to me that I’m eyeing quite a few cute tops – ranging from the demure to the downright sexy.
Now that designers have calmed down a little about the prints, I’m seeing a lot more blouse prints and variations that I’d be pleased to wear, and while the wrap blouse seems to be fading, the new tunic variations I’m seeing are looking more cut and less frumpy.
On the modest end, I’m seeing some interesting choices in length and stretch – presumably so those of us with tummies can allow the blouse to sink a little bit over that problem area.
I’m also seeing some really fun experiments on over-layering and sheers.
I love this floral blouse – it’s just gorgeous!
I also really like this floral-texture type thing on this blouse by Michael Kors:
As to some sexier tops, remember that this may vary depending on your bust size and overall body type. No one single look works on one single person.
