I’m not big on jackets because I’m busty with a short waist and big hips that are broader at the top than the bottom – so jackets tend to add bulk where I don’t really need it. I prefer flyaway-style cardigans or shrugs in thin knits with a camisole underneath.

That said, I do have a fitted lipstick-red leather blazer that I enjoy wearing on days when I feel like turning heads. It’s from Danier (www.danier.com) and they have a decent selection of styles that go up to 3X.

I totally agree with your lipstick-red comment above. The brighter the better during fall.

Before it gets too cold out, I really like a bright colored (especially canary yellow) mandarin collared light denim jacket. Yellow is a “happy” color and seems to brighten moods on dreary fall days. Roaman’s has this type of jacket in 12W – 32W, but they don’t have many choices of colors.

When winter sneaks up and it starts getting colder I think an Italian retro tweed jacket is perfect to keep you warm without neglecting style. J.Jill includes one in their product line that goes up to 3X, but there are many other places that sell them also.

I think a good jacket has to be fitted. In most cases any jacket bought from a retailer should probably be fitted. There are way to many body shapes for one jacket to fit properly on them all.

I love jackets, they are a good way to layer an outfit and give a new look to many pieces in our wardrobes.
