Logic!Fail

Jezebel ran this post yesterday about plus size (erotic?) model April Flores confronting American Apparel about refusing to run plus sizes. While her take is “ha! I’m wearing your underwear, neener neener!” my take is… it’s American Apparel. The name of the brand just screams “dronelike conformist to the Empire.” And given the flagrant tackiness of their “Best Bottom” contest, I shudder to think what they’d design for plus sizes – probably just tents with back zippers. I’ve seen what’s passing for talent from their designers.

CORRECTION: Ms. Flores corrected me in comments. In fact it is not her who made these comments, but Lilian Behrendt of My Unacceptable Body. While I still disagree with her reasoning, I acknowledge it is in fact her and not Flores that went down that particular flow chart.

Also, American Apparel sucks. There’s no reason to seek their approval.

I agree that American Apparel makes ugly clothes all around, but “Now give us your ridiculous pants while we’re still young enough to want them.” was pretty funny.

I did not write the blog you are referring to.

My reasoning? That they should make clothes in larger sizes because there’s a market for them (namely, me)? The only “illogical” thing you pointed out is that I disagree with you regarding American Apparel’s designs.

    Spock would be disappointed.

    Apologies for the misattribution.
When it comes to American Apparel and wanting to wear that sort of thing, much of it is a matter of taste.
