Levi’s jeans is presenting a new line called Levi’s Curve ID. The research is parallel to Lane Bryant’s Right Fit Research – including using the 3 dimensional body scan. Sizing from Levi’s jeans in their overall lines go up to 24 with a waist of 44 inches per the website sizing chart. According to the designer interview, it appears that much of the emphasis of Levi brand jeans goes on the fit at the waist.
The findings in the research for design are nothing new to us jeans shoppers. Says Adweek: “Levi’s global survey found that more than half of women, 54 percent, try on at least 10 pairs of jeans to find one pair they would buy; most women, 87 percent, wish they could find jeans that fit better than the ones they own; most women, 67 percent, believe that jeans are designed for women with “ideal” figures; and few women, 28 percent, believe that jeans are designed to fit their bodies.”
There is still some comment and debate about whether or not these jeans actually serve the plus size market. Given that there are so many different body types that fall in the range of plus, they’re bound to serve someone – and not capable of serving everyone. Also, the advertising campaign “All asses were not created equal” is most certainly an eyebrow-raiser.
