I’m asking to get an idea of who is reading this these days. If you’re comfortable with it, feel free to share your waist measurement in the comments below. I’m aware firsthand of some women under a size 10 who read this blog; while it’s not even the majority, it still came as a surprise to me. The last time I asked this about two years ago, the answers suggested the typical Fat Chic reader is around a size 24. I’d like to see where we’re at now.

The size I wear depends on where I buy my clothing and the fabric it’s made of. Stretch denim leggings, I wear a size 28, stretch twill leggings I wear a size 30. Most tops I wear are cotton knits of one type or another and in those I wear anywhere from a 4X to a 5X, again, depending on who made them.

If I could, I would have voted 14-16 bottoms, 18-20 tops!

What a loaded question! I can take anywhere from a 22-28, depending on the store, the label, the fabric, the cut of the garment and the manufacturer. For instance, in Lane Bryant, I usually wear a 22-24 in bottoms. But last time I bought skirts from them, I had a size 24 that fit perfectly, and another size 24 that was too tight, so I had to go up to a 26. It’s so confusing! I wish there were standardized sizing. To add to the problems, my measurements (not that you asked, LOL, but in the interests of science!) are 49-41-56. So I’m usually a 22-24 on top and a 26-28 on the bottom. But in LB I can take a 22-24 in bottoms, but sometimes have to go up to a 26.

I’m sure that’s more detail than you asked for, but like I said, it’s a loaded question, and not easy to answer. Thanks for asking, though … I’m sure you’ll get a lot of diverse answers.

It seems that all of us are in the same boat. I wear clothing from a junior’s XL up to a Torrid size 4. My jeans are currently size 20 and 22, but that changes with the brand.

To top it off, my waist is substantially smaller than my hips and bust, but I now have a double belly roll (above and below my navel), which creates fit problems in just about everything.

My new swimsuit (Incidentally, the most incredible one I’ve ever found & it’s from Walmart!?) is a 3X. It’s “Suddenly Slim by Catalina – Women’s Plus Leopard Shirred Swimsuit” – I know, the name is awful, but it’s the first swimsuit that made me feel sexy and actually COVERS MY BUTT! As in, a one-piece that I’m comfortable in without board shorts.

Haha a bit rambly, but my point was really the same as everyone else. Sizing is just incredibly inconsistent.
