- In Portuguese (but Google Chrome can translate) is a summation of the fashion controversies of 2011. This includes the hilarious American Apparel plus size debacle, that made Nancy Upton one of my personal heroes.
- BBC News magazine has a profile on how “fatshion blogs defiantly celebrate plus-size couture.” Defiant implies that there is any actual authority for us to defy – since fashion industry personnel only have power if people buy into what they sell, it’s not a matter of the end customer “defying” the designer that no longer gets our money. It’s a matter of the designer no longer offering a reason for us to supply the money. We aren’t naughty, we’re just respecting ourselves. Also, couture implies that we have more than 3-5 choices in couture. We really don’t, not yet.
- India Today proclaims “Plump Can be Sexy,” an assertion that seems downright British colonial. It wasn’t even a question that plump could be sexy until the UK wanted more tea.
