Back in May, plus-size clothing newcomer I Heart Posh Shoppe approached me about trying out some of their clothes. This opened the door to “adventures in shapewear.” Two bandeau bras and a body suit later – all of which were made easier to find, but still not easy to find, via Fat Chic Clothing Search., I was ready to give shooting pictures of myself a try. To put together the look you see above, I have chosen to wear some extremely silly things underneath.
Silly underwear aside, the clothing is actually gorgeous. It looks even better in real life than it does on the website, and it really is made for very curvy women. They use a lot of stretch jersey knit, lightweight fabric, and well-placed prints. It’s clothing that just feels sensual to wear – I don’t feel constricted or uncomfortable (the shapewear does that.) I feel free-flowing. This is synchronous, as I’ve been thinking about the look of clothing versus the feel of it – both are so important to balance when dressing plus-size women, and Posh Shoppe makes it happen.
There is no doing justice to the maxi dress in photos – those of you who remember it from Facebook remember it pre-bandeau bra. The later shot I got (above) WITH the bandeau bra, was on one of those windy days where most shots came out a bit … unfortunate.
As an added bonus, they also gave me this adorable heart-print top.
What makes it amazing is the generous cut and the feel of the fabric. It’s a gorgeous cut – and a joy to wear.
