The whole human disco-ball thing from last year is continuing this year. I for one see nothing wrong with being a human disco ball – if you want to spin around like Wonder Woman on the dance floor and light up the world, that’s totally awesome. Now the shimmer is getting bolder, and it’s moving away from the sequins a little bit.
As for what to wear with the moving shiny, the answer is: not much. When your dress shines, you do not need more jewelry most of the time. You do not want competing shoes. In the case of the above two looks, I do encourage you to wear pumps. I never encourage the dramatically high heels – 3 inches or more – that so many fashionistas love. But a little bit of a raise works extremely well.
A note from experience? Before you go to that party and shimmy all night, ask how many stairs you need to climb. Commuter flats can fit into most handbags and can save you a world of high-heeled grief.

Aside:
About the sequins – how many of you have had to spend time picking the little plastic shiny bits out of your dryer because you forgot to separate them from the wash? My trick is to just throw them in a zip up lingerie bag. This way I can just pull out the bag filled with “do not dry” stuff and go about my life. It also works well for socks – if you want to make sure they remain properly mated, lower them into the wash in a zip bag. Voila! No lonely single socks.
