Wearing scarves alone is complicated enough, let alone wearing scarf prints. It’s difficult enough to wear a print – and the plus-size industry has only recently sought guidance in distinguishing between upholstery and apparel print designs. The above are two examples of what’s available. The one on the right is the easy option – as long as you don’t mind the ostrich feather hem. The print itself is simple, and will lay more or less predictably across multiple body types. The one on the left is a bit tougher. It’s not a totally common scarf print and to wear it relies heavily on whether you let the print speak for itself and layer it around neutrals, of if you decide to amplify a color within the print. For example, choosing to wear lavender or coral leggings amplifies the impression of the scarf top. Just wearing it over black pants might also give up a high school art teacher vibe – not a bad thing, just what people might guess about you if you dressed that way.
